
Kelly Somerlot began work as a part-time Environmental Educator for Onondaga Environmental Institute (OEI) in January of 2011. Kelly received her Bachelor of Science from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (Syracuse, NY) in 2000, where she majored in Environmental and Forest Biology. She earned her Masters of Science in 2003 from Murray State University (Murray, KY), where she studied Conservation Biology and spatial modeling of biodiversity using GIS for the Kentucky Gap Analysis Project. Before joining OEI, Kelly worked as a watershed educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County, where she implemented numerous public education programs on topics including stormwater pollution & prevention, green infrastructure including rain garden design and installation, groundwater protection, watershed stewardship, invasive aquatic plant management, stream biology, and invasive forest pests.
