Onondaga Environmental Institute

On March 17, 2011 over 150 people gathered at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo to learn more about green infrastructure, green jobs and green funding. The daylong workshop was attended by engineers, architects, contractors, and green job training students seeking to learn more about:

Porous Pavements in Cold Climates: Costs, Design, Installation, Maintenance, & Performance
The County’s Plan for Using Green Infrastructure in 2011 and Beyond
Connecting with Local Workers: Minorities, Green Job Training Graduates, and Youth
Funding Opportunities for Businesses and Non- Profits Making “Green” Improvements to Their Properties

Organization of the workshop, put together by the Onondaga Environmental Institute and the Partnership for Onondaga Creek, was made possible with funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Keynote speakers included Thomas Ballestero and Robert Roseen from the University of New Hampshire Stormwater Center.
