About Save the Rain
The Save the Rain program is the result of an amended consent judgement entered into by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Atlantic States Legal Foundation (ASLF), and the Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protections (OCDWEP)
Onondaga Environmental Institute is pleased to collaborate with the Environmental Finance Center, SUNY ESF, Baltimore Woods, Southside Interfaith CDC and others on the RFP, Onondaga County’s “Save the Rain” Public Education and Outreach Plan. We will sub-contract with the EFC to provide the following services:
- Deliver educational programs to the Onondaga Earth Corps and empower them to teach peers and adults in their community
- Coordinate all demonstration projects
- Develop and deliver workshops for adults and professionals
- Develop and deliver GI and art workshops for youth
- Provide outreach to grass roots community organizations
- Lead a design workshop or charrette related to community education and green infrastructure
We also expect to offer additional cost-shared services at a value of about $30,000 including:
- Supporting the outreach efforts of the Partnership for Onondaga Creek in regards to their work on this project
- Additional workshops (Porous Pavement) for professionals, new homeowners and youth
- Assessment of the effectiveness of rainbarrels as a stormwater engagement tool
